Responsible Sourcing at Avery Dennison Graphics Solutions

A Commitment to Sustainability

In an era of growing concern for the environment and the need for sustainable practices, responsible sourcing has become a crucial aspect of business operations. At Avery Dennison Graphics Solutions, we recognise the significance of responsible sourcing and take great care in selecting our suppliers to ensure they uphold our sustainability principles. We aim to have 100% of our raw materials responsibly sourced, reflecting our commitment to a more sustainable future.

Forest Stewardship Council® (FSC®) certified materials

One of the key ways we promote responsible sourcing is through our extensive use of Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certified materials. Most of our paper-based materials, including release liners and paper facestocks, are sourced from FSC-certified suppliers. The FSC certification ensures that these materials come from responsibly managed forests, where biodiversity is preserved, local communities are respected, and environmental impacts are minimised. By prioritising FSC-certified materials, we contribute to the protection of forests and promote sustainable forestry practices.

Sustainable packaging

We understand the importance of designing packaging that not only protects our products but also minimises our environmental footprint. To achieve this, we utilise recycled materials whenever possible or create components that can be reused or recycled. For instance, most of our product's inner cores are made from 100% recycled paper. By using recycled paper for inner cores, we reduce the demand for virgin materials, contributing to waste reduction and resource conservation. Additionally, most of our packaging boxes are made from recycled paper and/or FSC-certified paper. This ensures that the packaging materials come from sustainable sources and can be recycled or composted after use, closing the loop on the materials' lifecycle.

Core Plugs for recycling

Moreover, we have made strides in incorporating recycled plastic into our packaging. Our plastic core stoppers are now made with recycled plastic granulates. By using recycled plastic, we reduce the reliance on virgin plastic production and help divert plastic waste from landfills. Notably, these plastic core stoppers can be recycled in specific countries for remanufacture, contributing to the circular economy and minimising waste generation.

At Avery Dennison, by prioritising responsible sourcing, we contribute to the conservation of natural resources, the reduction of waste, and the protection of ecosystems. We believe that responsible sourcing is essential not only for our business but also for the well-being of the planet and future generations. As we continue to innovate and evolve, we remain dedicated to upholding the highest sustainability standards in all aspects of our operations.
